Abstract
The circumstances/necessity for this empirical paper was as a result of the need to examine the contemporary development in Nigeria with special emphasis on financial accountability and transparency in this present democratic dispensation.One of the major problems that emanated from the background to the study is that there has not been amendment in the existing legal and regulatory framework guiding the operation of them in the Nigeria economy before introducing new reform programme.
In this research paper, data were collected with most data from secondary sources and economy indicators and growth performance are of quoted companies on the Nigeria’s Stock Exchange market specific in the major sector of the economy was done. Based on the analysis it was discovered that there is a significant relationship between financial accountability, transparency and financial reporting under the economic reform policies of government.
Based on the above funding it was recommended that government should be emphatic and consistent with economic reform programme that will be generally acceptable to the citizenry and also that there should be compliance with International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) and Code of Corporate governance. In order to ensure adequate Financial Accountability and Transparency in financial reporting.
